A ton bag is the sweet spot for a semi with a drive and a stove lit most evenings. Two or three is a typical winter.
If you have nowhere dry for a full load, take ton bags one at a time. It costs more per cubic metre, and it is still the right call if the alternative is a soaking heap.
Is it good value?
Far cheaper than the same wood in nets, and a little dearer than a full load. Pick a firewood to see the numbers.

Bigger or smaller?
A ton bag of seasoned mixed logs is £120. Kiln dried is £145, seasoned hardwood £130, seasoned ash £130 and unseasoned £80. All delivered, with VAT included.
Ours holds 1.1 loose cubic metres. That is about four and a half 240-litre wheelie bins, or four barrow bags.
No. The name comes from the bag, which is made to carry a tonne of sand or gravel. Logs are far lighter: 1.1 cubic metres of dry hardwood logs is roughly 330kg. That is why firewood is sold by volume, not by weight.
On a 5kW stove burning four or five evenings a week it lasts roughly eight to ten weeks, so two or three ton bags is a typical winter. On an open fire, expect closer to four or five weeks.
About 37. A net bag is 0.03 cubic metres and a ton bag is 1.1. That is why a ton bag at £120 is so much better value than the same wood bought in nets at £12 each.
Ton bag and bulk bag are two names for the same thing: ours holds 1.1 loose cubic metres. “Builders bag” and “dumpy bag” get used as well, but bags vary from seller to seller, so check the volume in cubic metres before you compare prices.
Most people have them on the drive or by the garage. Wherever it goes, get the logs off the ground and under a roof or a sheet, with the sides left open to the air.
