Before You Order
Log Slice Questions
How far ahead should I order for a wedding?
Give us a few weeks if you can. Everything is cut to order from whatever hardwood is in the yard, and slices want a little time sitting somewhere dry before the day. Ring earlier for a summer Saturday — those book up.
Will they crack?
Some will, a little. A slice cut across the grain of a green log almost always develops a radial check as it dries — it's what wood does. Most people find it adds to the look. If you want them as stable as possible, order early so they dry slowly indoors rather than in a hot marquee.
Are they treated or sealed?
No — completely untreated. That's why they're safe round ponds, in wild gardens and under food on a grazing board. If you want a sealed finish for indoor use, a clear matt varnish or a wax works well and you can do that yourself.
Can I choose the diameter?
Within reason, yes. Tell us the diameter and thickness you're after and we'll cut to it from what we've got. Very large rounds depend on what butts have come through the yard, so ask and we'll tell you honestly what's possible.
Can you deliver to a venue?
Yes — venue delivery across our usual area is no problem, and we do it regularly. Give us the venue postcode and the date and we'll confirm. Outside the free zone there's a small fee we'll agree first.
Do you do decorative logs as well?
We do — whole decorative logs for pond edging, wild gardens and event dressing, quoted individually. Have a look at the accessories page or just ring and describe what you're after.
