Safe Beside Water
Treated timber leaches preservative into a pond and it's the fish and the invertebrates that pay for it. Untreated rounds simply don't.
All untreated hardwood
Chopping blocks, insect logs, log slices and decorative rounds – all untreated hardwood off the same Dorset tree work. Tap any of them for the detail.

The Shelf
Six things, all untreated, all from local timber. Tap one to open it up.
Buy It Once
A proper round of solid hardwood to split on. Splitting on concrete blunts your axe and splitting on the lawn is a good way to bury the head in the turf – a block does the job for years and takes the punishment instead of your edge.

Good For The Garden
A hardwood log drilled with a range of hole sizes, ready to stand or lie in a border. Solitary bees, ladybirds and lacewings move in – all things you actually want in a garden, and all under real pressure.

Cut To Order
Untreated hardwood rounds in a set of five. Most go on wedding tables as name-card bases or under lanterns, but they turn up as coasters, plant stands and craft bases too.

Better Value In Bulk
If you're dressing a whole wedding rather than a couple of tables, a box works out considerably better than buying sets of five. Mixed medium-to-large rounds, cut to the sizes you specify.

Tell Us What You Need
Whole logs and characterful bits of timber for landscaping rather than burning – pond edging, wild-garden features, seating rounds, event dressing. Priced individually because no two are alike.

Nine Products
Dry split hardwood kindling, wood wool firelighters, King Alfred's Cakes and pine cones – all chemical free and odourless. There's a bundle builder and an animated guide to laying a fire properly on that page.

Why Untreated Matters
Everything on this page is raw hardwood with no preservative, no stain and no varnish. That's not us cutting corners – it's the whole point.
Treated timber leaches preservative into a pond and it's the fish and the invertebrates that pay for it. Untreated rounds simply don't.
Bare hardwood rots slowly and hosts beetles, fungi and solitary bees as it goes. A varnished log is just an ornament.
No finish means nothing to migrate into a cheeseboard or a cake. Give it a wipe and it's ready for the table.
Yes – that's the easiest way. The online order form adds extras at the second step, once you've picked your logs, and it all comes on one delivery. For an accessory on its own, give us a ring on 01202 022560.
It varies with what's come through the yard – they're cut from the densest butts we get, so each one is a bit different. If you want a particular height or diameter, say so when you order and we'll pick one out.
Give it a season. Solitary bees are usually the first in, generally in spring. Sunny, sheltered and left undisturbed is the recipe – the commonest mistake is putting it somewhere shady or moving it about.
Whatever hardwood has come off Clearcut Tree Surgery jobs across Dorset – oak, ash, beech, sycamore. All local, all untreated, and all timber that would otherwise have been chipped.
Regularly. If you're a landscaper or garden designer working across Dorset, ring us and we'll sort a supply arrangement rather than quoting job by job. Same for other trade accounts.
Extras go on at the second step of the order form and arrive on the same delivery.
