Not Sure How Much?

How Much Firewood Do I Need?

Three questions and we'll tell you what to order. It's the thing everyone gets stuck on — so let's just answer it.

1What are you burning on?

2How often do you light it?

3How long should it last?

Answer the three
questions and we'll

A guide, not a promise — how dry your logs are, how well you stack them and how cold the winter gets all move the number. If you're between two sizes, ring us on 01202 022560 and we'll talk it through.

Where It Comes From

Nothing Felled For Firewood

Every log we sell started as a tree that had to come down anyway — storm damage, disease, safety work, clearance. Our tree surgery crews are out across Dorset every day, and the timber they bring back becomes this.

Tree Comes Down

Clearcut crews remove a storm-damaged, diseased or unsafe tree somewhere in Dorset.

Back To The Yard

The timber comes straight to us instead of being chipped or sent to landfill.

Cut & Dried

Cut to a consistent 8–10″, then air-dried under cover or dried down in the kiln.

On Your Fire

Tipped loose exactly where you point us — and paid for when it arrives, not before.

No imports. No unnecessary felling. We're a small local outfit working alongside Clearcut Tree Surgery, and every log has come off a Dorset job. It's firewood that would otherwise have been waste — which is why we can keep it well priced.

Good To Know

Firewood FAQs

How long does delivery take?
You choose the slot. Live delivery slots are bookable up to a month ahead on the order page, and we'll often have something within a few days. If you need it fast, ring us on 01202 022560 and we'll tell you honestly what's free.
Do I have to pay up front?
No. There's no deposit and nothing is taken when you book. You pay the driver once the logs are down where you want them.
Where will you tip the logs?
Wherever you point us, as long as we can safely get the vehicle to it. Everything is tipped loose — we don't stack. If access is tight, mention it in the order notes and we'll work it out beforehand.
How big is a ton bag, really?
A ton bag is about 1.1m³ — roughly four and a half wheelie bins' worth. Use the size tool further up this page to see each load drawn to scale, or the calculator to work out which one suits how you burn.
What size are the logs?
Every log is cut to 8–10″, whichever product you order. That fits the vast majority of stoves, fireplaces and multi-fuel burners without you having to split anything further.
What's the difference between kiln dried and seasoned?
Both are ready to burn on delivery. Kiln dried is taken down to under 20% moisture in the kiln — it lights easily, burns hottest and leaves the least soot. Seasoned is air-dried under cover in our yard and costs less, which is why it's our best seller.
Is delivery really free?
Free across every BH postcode from BH1–BH18, BH21–BH24 and BH31, plus Ringwood and SP6 Fordingbridge. Swanage, New Milton, Blandford and parts of the New Forest carry a small fee that we confirm with you before anything is charged.
Where does your wood come from?
All of it comes from tree surgery work carried out across Dorset by Clearcut Tree Surgery — storm damage, disease, safety work and clearance. Nothing is felled just to be sold as firewood, and nothing is imported.
