Kindling

Dry split hardwood kindling — the traditional and most reliable way to get any fire started. The pieces are consistently sized and properly dried so they catch quickly, build a strong flame and get your logs going without a fight. Works perfectly with wood wool or natural firelighters underneath.

Eco Kindling

Natural eco-friendly kindling at a slightly lower price point. Same principle as regular kindling — dry, split, ready to light — with an emphasis on sustainable sourcing. The practical choice if you want to minimise cost or prefer the eco option. Works just as well for getting your fire started.

How To Use It

Lighting a fire the right way

The most common mistake is adding logs too early. Patience and a good kindling base is the whole secret.

1
Place your firelighter

Put one wood wool pad, natural firelighter or King Alfred's Cake at the centre of your grate. This is the only thing you're lighting directly.

2
Build a kindling teepee

Lean 6–8 pieces of kindling over the firelighter in a loose teepee or log-cabin shape. Leave gaps — air is what makes fire work. Don't pack it tight.

3
Light and wait

Light the firelighter from underneath. Close the stove door slightly (not fully). Leave it completely alone until the kindling is burning well — this usually takes 3–5 minutes.

4
Add logs gradually

Once kindling is fully alight, add one small log. Only when that's burning do you add full-size logs. Never rush this — each stage needs to be established before the next.

Why It Matters

Dry kindling, every time

Lights First Time

Properly dried kindling catches from a single firelighter without fuss. Wet or green wood smoulders and fails. Dry kindling removes the uncertainty every single time.

🌡️
Builds Heat Quickly

Dry kindling gets your stove or fire up to temperature fast — which means your logs catch more easily and the fire establishes properly rather than struggling.

🚫
No Chemicals

Our kindling is purely natural wood — no accelerants, no chemical treatments, no additives. Safe to use in wood burners, open fires and any cooking or outdoor fire.
