Corfe Mullen sits in a useful spot for us: far enough out of Poole to have space, close enough in that it is on the way to Wimborne. It is a village that grew a great deal in the second half of the last century, so the housing runs from old cottages along Wareham Road to substantial modern estates around Cogdean and Lambs Green.
That spread matters when you are choosing a load. The estate houses generally have a drive and a garage and take a ton bag comfortably. The older properties toward the church and along the lanes often have more land but tighter access, and a full transit works well there provided there is somewhere to tip it that is not the road.
Being on the western edge of our free zone, Corfe Mullen is also where a lot of our timber comes from rather than goes to. Tree work along the Stour valley and around the Henbury estate keeps the yard supplied with exactly the ash and oak that ends up back on drives here.
