Firewood In Poole

Poole splits into two quite different firewood jobs. Down around Canford Cliffs, Lilliput and Sandbanks there are large detached houses with log stores, wood burners in more than one room, and the space to take a full transit in one go. Up in Oakdale, Alderney and parts of Hamworthy it's terraces and semis, and the orders are ton bags and barrow bags.

The harbour side of things matters more than people expect. Salt air and damp are hard on a badly stored log pile — wood sat uncovered near the water will happily take moisture back on. Anywhere near the Quay or out on the Sandbanks peninsula, get it off the ground and keep a roof over it, but leave the sides open so the wind does its work.

Broadstone and Canford Heath are straightforward for access, mostly post-war houses with proper driveways. The Old Town is the tricky one — some of those lanes off the Quay will not take a transit, so it's worth a word before you order a big load.

“Best firewood supplier in the area. The kiln dried logs burn brilliantly in our log burner. Have ordered three times now and always impressed — fast, reliable and great value.”

Poole Questions

Asked Round Here

Which Poole postcodes get free delivery?
BH12 through BH18 — the whole of Poole. Parkstone, Branksome, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Penn Hill, the Old Town, Hamworthy, Upton, Creekmoor, Canford Heath, Broadstone and Oakdale are all free, whatever size you order.
Can you get down to Sandbanks?
Yes, BH13 is inside the free zone. Access on the peninsula is generally fine — the consideration is usually where to tip rather than whether we can get there. Have a spot in mind before we arrive.
Does the salt air affect how I should store logs?
It's the damp rather than the salt that matters. Anywhere near the harbour, keep wood off the ground on a pallet and under a roof or sheet, but leave the sides open. A stack sat on bare ground by the water will pull moisture straight back up into it.
What about the narrow lanes in Poole Old Town?
Some of them won't take a transit, and a few won't take much at all. Put it in the order notes and we'll work out what's sensible — often that means a ton bag rather than a half transit, or tipping somewhere agreed nearby.
