Our seasoned hardwood is the dense end of our range — slower to light than ash or kiln dried wood, but exceptional once it gets going. Hardwood logs burn slowly and steadily, producing a powerful, long-lasting heat that makes them ideal for log burners where you want to load up and leave it.
The species mix typically includes oak, beech and sycamore — all sourced from local tree surgery operations across Dorset. These are exactly the trees that come down for everyday reasons: maintenance, safety clearance, storm damage. Our job is making sure that timber is put to the best possible use rather than going to landfill or the chipper.

Local hardwood species
The heaviest and densest of our hardwoods. Takes time to get going but once it's established, oak sustains heat for longer than almost any other species. The traditional choice for serious log burner users who want overnight performance.
Burns with a steady, even heat and produces a beautiful long flame. Minimal ash residue, splits cleanly and provides a consistent, reliable burn. One of the most satisfying hardwoods to burn in an open fire or log burner.
A reliable all-rounder that burns well and produces solid heat output. Lighter than oak but still a proper hardwood. Works well as part of a mixed load — easier to light than oak and keeps the fire going steadily once established.
